Saving Time on the Road While Enhancing Customer Service with Loyverse POS
We interviewed Miguel Ángel Espinoza, one of the owners of Farmamovil, who shared with us how they transitioned from handwritten notes to managing their sales and inventory using Loyverse as their ally. In this interview, he shares how implementing the system allowed them to work more efficiently, even in areas without an internet connection, and optimize each day on the road.
Could you briefly tell us about your business, what you do, how long you have been operating, and where you are located?
We have been using the application since March of this year. We distribute medications in the state of Chiapas, in the municipality of Comitán. The business has been operating for two years, and we are a group of owners.
What challenges did you face before using the system, and what led you to look for a point of sale solution?
Some colleagues we know were using a different program, and we saw how practical it was to serve customers without having to write manual notes with dates, prices, and quantities. We realized it was a good option, so we started looking for alternatives until we found the one we are currently using. A colleague told us about it, we downloaded it, and it seemed suitable for what we needed.
Was there any specific tool or feature that made you choose this option?
Yes. We chose it because adding products is quick and practical. When making sales, everything is automatically reflected in the reports, and once we finalize them, the receipts automatically deduct the items from inventory.
When you first started using the system, did you encounter any challenges?
At the beginning, it was challenging to understand the “Low Stock” option. We would get confused when entering stock quantities, and the items would appear in red or in negative numbers. We started researching and watched some Help Center videos, and that’s how we resolved the issue. After that, we haven’t had any major difficulties.
Which features do you use most frequently?
Mainly adding new products to the catalog. We are constantly updating inventory because it changes frequently: we add new products, remove others, and it never stops. I also check the Back Office to see the total sales for the day.
Which feature is most useful to you on a daily basis?
The fact that we don’t need internet access. We work on the road, and we are often in areas with limited coverage. That was a very important advantage for our type of business.
Since implementing the system, what changes have you noticed in your business? Have your customers noticed the difference?
We have more time and serve customers faster. Before, everything was manual. Now the process is more agile and more formal because we provide printed receipts. Yes, customers have commented that they notice sales are faster and that it looks more professional now that they receive a printed receipt with information about the business and their own purchase details. Previously, we handed them a generic handwritten note.
Do you use the reports to make decisions?
Yes, we review the total daily sales in the Back Office, and we mainly check the low stock report to restock products.
Do you believe the system has made your business more efficient or more profitable?
More efficient, especially because of the speed. We deliver orders along our route, and time is very important. Now everything is more agile. We can create receipts with the items most frequently ordered by our customers and then edit them when we arrive at our destination. Since we finalize each sale more quickly, we can continue our route and visit more customers in a single day.
Based on your experience as an entrepreneur, what advice would you give to those who are just starting out?
Consistency with customers is essential. Difficulties are present every day. One of the things that has helped us continue is staying consistent with our customers: maintaining good communication and visiting them regularly. There are many factors involved, but the important thing is not to give up with thoughts like, “They didn’t buy from me, so I won’t go back.” You have to stay consistent and try to offer them the best of yourself in an effective way.
What do you value most about having implemented the system?
Even if it sounds repetitive, it’s time. Now we have more time and work faster and more efficiently. Within the same period, we finish our route and visit more customers than before. We realized that we can manage our schedule better, return home earlier, and still maintain a high level of service for our customers.
