Armando Mariscos’ Success: Control, Strategy, and Smarter Business Decisions with Loyverse

Today, Jorge Martínez shares the story of his business, Armando Mariscos, and the experiences he has had as an entrepreneur using Loyverse. We publish these interviews to give a face to Loyverse users, to learn more about the people behind the screen, and to share experiences that can guide those who are just beginning to use the system.

To provide context for readers, could you tell us a few details about your business?

My name is Jorge Martínez. My business is in the restaurant industry, specializing in seafood. We have been operating for 11 months. I use the platform to manage and monitor what is sold and handled on a daily basis. I am the owner of this project, and I work with a family member who helps me in the kitchen. I have some background in marketing, administration, and customer service. At the moment, it is just the two of us running the business.

How did the idea for the business begin, and when did you decide you needed a point-of-sale system?

My wife and I have another project as well. We enjoy seafood, and the idea came up unexpectedly one day while eating at a restaurant. We already had the necessary tools: the location and the investment, so it was simply a matter of completing the process. Previously, I worked at a company, and I spoke with my wife and told her that I would save everything I earned that year in order to invest in 2025. It was a plan that took about a year to a year and a half. Based on my experience in different types of work, I knew I needed an application or system that would help me manage profits, losses, what comes in, what goes out, and which items sell the most, in order to maintain internal control of the business. I researched several options, and there were other platforms offering similar services. However, my main goal was to have control and to start the project in an organized and administratively structured way. That is why I chose to work with you from the very beginning.

What motivated you to choose Loyverse?

I believe Loyverse has many qualities that make it easier to manage and control a business, especially when starting a new project. In my case, as a restaurant business owner, I watched videos on your YouTube channel, read reviews, and explored the statistics and reporting tools the platform provides. I understood that it would support exactly what I was looking for.

Was there any period when you operated without Loyverse?

I am a very perfectionist person. I like to start things in the best possible way. Before launching the project, I was already working with the platform. I wanted to begin operating alongside Loyverse from the start. We implemented it early on to ensure accurate control from the beginning.

How was the implementation process? Did you face any challenges?

Honestly, I found it intuitive because I have worked in administrative areas that use different internal software systems. I did not struggle much. I only needed a tutorial that you offer on YouTube about how to enter menu items, costs, and similar information. Beyond that, uploading data and understanding what each control is for felt very natural. For people who are starting a business and want to use the platform, it may not always be the same, but Loyverse provides helpful resources that explain each menu and tool step by step.

Regarding the daily use of the system, which functions do you use most frequently?

In general, the function I use the most is the POS App, since that is where all transactions take place. From those results, one of the most helpful tools is the daily sales tracking available in the Back Office. I review sales day by day and analyze statistics on which dishes sell the most. This helps me understand what we can improve or which items need more promotion. I use a tablet. When a customer arrives, I already have the products organized on my sales screen. If they order a fillet or a seafood cocktail, I simply select it from the screen.
Regularly, I download or review daily sales reports because I also maintain an Excel file where I record what I sell, what I spend, payroll, supplies, and all business income and expenses.

Do you use the Shift management feature?

Yes. The platform allows you to open and close the cash register. I do this daily to maintain precise control over sales. I also use the graphs provided by the platform. They break down the menu items and provide sales details: what was sold, what sells the most, and how many units were sold on a given day or during the month.

Regarding the impact of Loyverse reports on your business, have they helped you make decisions?

Yes, they have helped me make decisions. For example, the sales by item report helps me identify which dishes are not selling well, so I can adjust or take action. One example is aguachile. I noticed it was not moving much, even though it is a dish with great flavor. If I see in the report that sales have been low, I make the decision to promote it more in order to increase sales.

Do you believe Loyverse makes the business more efficient or profitable?

Yes, definitely. For those of us who are just starting out, it is very useful because it reduces paperwork and simplifies processes. I value practicality. Today we work with digital systems, and Loyverse provides strong support, makes work easier, and is an excellent tool for entrepreneurs.

What do you value most about the system?

First of all, the point-of-sale app. It is very simple to have all products available at your fingertips. I organize dishes by categories: seafood cocktails, main dishes, snacks, and beverages. This helps greatly in maintaining control over what is being sold.
I also value the Back Office summaries. The system presents information in a clear way: how much you sold, what you sold, and how you are closing by week or by month, with graphs and numbers. I have not yet implemented inventory management, but I have considered it because it alerts you when an item is running low.

Finally, what advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?

My advice is to study your project carefully and try to start alongside a platform like Loyverse from the beginning. It is intuitive, and there are YouTube channels and support tools available. I always recommend simplifying any tedious activity. Loyverse simplifies many tasks, summarizes your products, and helps you identify which items are not selling well so you can develop strategies. I also advise being disciplined: if you consume one of your own products, you should register it on the platform. This prevents losses and helps avoid issues in the administrative balance.
