La Nacional: a story of passion, legacy, and reinvention with Loyverse.

In this interview, we speak with Erick Jaime, a biotechnological engineer who turned his family’s century-old legacy into a modern craft business. With the help of Loyverse POS, he has managed to professionalize his operations, streamline inventory management, and maintain control in his business.

Tell us a little about how everything started.
My name is Erick Jaime, and I’m the owner of this small business. The story began many years ago, mainly with my great-grandparents. Hjoxingo is an old town, and during the colonial period, the Franciscan friars brought with them not only religion but also new fruits and preservation methods. Through their influence, my great-grandparents started to learn and adopt these traditional techniques of fruit conservation.

I later decided to study biotechnology engineering, and also food engineering, since my strongest background has always been in food science. Through the years, I learned to make craft beer, cream liqueurs, mezcal-based creams, and other drinks. I eventually started developing my own brand, and in 2017, I began selling craft beer commercially, now under the name “La Nacional.” I chose that name because the first cider factory here was founded in 1921, right in this very place. That legacy inspired me to continue the story under a new label that honors the past. Today, I can proudly say that I have built a more solid and structured business, offering high-quality products rooted in that family tradition.

How did you decide to implement Loyverse in your business?
A friend recommended the Loyverse platform. When I first saw her tickets, I was impressed by how professional they looked. She explained the different features available, even in the free version, and I was immediately interested. What caught my attention the most was the inventory management system, since I have a store downtown where I also distribute products wholesale. I also have an employee who helps me with sales, so having a tool that allows me to manage inventory more efficiently was essential.

Your business was already well established. How did you identify the need for a POS system?
It was about independence. I love my business deeply, and that attachment made it hard for me to move beyond the small store I started with. Growth is never easy; it requires trust and adaptation. The turning point came this year, when I decided to open a production space and a small office to meet clients. To make that possible, I needed to delegate operations, and that meant relying on modern tools like Loyverse to maintain full control over my inventory. That control gives me peace of mind and allows me to enjoy what I do without frustration.
I also appreciated the ability to customize my receipts. I purchased Android POS terminals, installed the app, and configured my printed tickets exactly as I wanted. They look professional and attractive. Another great feature is the option to quickly apply discounts or offers, which fits perfectly with our local culture of negotiation and promotions.

When you started using Loyverse, did you find it easy to implement?
Yes, it was very straightforward. The only part that required more time was entering the entire inventory because I manage both retail and wholesale products. I had to be patient while adding all the items. However, once I started using the barcode scanner, the process became much faster. Overall, I think the interface is intuitive and easy to use. I even recommended it to a friend who owns a coffee shop. Loyverse adapts very well to different types of businesses like restaurants and cafés.

Which features do you find most useful in your daily operations?
Mainly the dashboard and inventory tools. They allow me to keep everything under control in very little time. I can complete a full inventory in about thirty minutes, something that used to take me much longer. I also value the receipt printing option, as it gives a more professional image and helps customers keep records of their purchases. In addition, Loyverse allows me to track different payment methods, cards, transfers, and cash, and manage my daily cash flow efficiently.

Have you noticed any changes in your business since you started using the system?
Yes, definitely. I am very meticulous with numbers, and Loyverse has brought me a sense of calm. I can reconcile my sales and inventory quickly, which gives me more time to focus on new projects. The app also lets me track sales history, which I plan to use to make better decisions about which products to keep or discontinue.

Would you recommend Loyverse to other businesses in your field?
Absolutely. In the cider and preserves industry, many small producers struggle with inventory management, leading to losses or disorganization. Loyverse helps prevent theft, waste, and inefficiency. For businesses with multiple points of sale, it’s especially valuable because it provides data-driven insights about what sells best.

What do you think sets your business apart from others?
Professionalism. I believe small details make all the difference. For instance, having customized tickets with my brand information helps me convey a more organized and reliable image. That sense of order and care translates directly into how my customers perceive the business.

Finally, how would you describe your overall experience with Loyverse?
It has been excellent and made my work much easier, and allowed me to truly enjoy what I do. I love my business, and it’s rewarding to see how the right tools can help you combine passion and organization in your daily work.
