What type of business do you have, and how did you start your journey as a business owner?
I started this business together with my friends. It is a restaurant named Ayam Gepuk Legendz. Before opening, we studied the market and discovered that many people love “Ayam Gepuk,” a popular Malaysian dish consisting of spicy sambal, rice, and chicken. After conducting our research, my friends and I concluded that the best business to start was an F&B venture. I am also a food lover myself.
We officially started the business in February 2025, after three months of market research. During this time, we studied the most viral dishes in Malaysia, especially Ayam Gepuk. We worked on developing our own recipe, conducting extensive testing to perfect the flavor—making the chicken tasty and the sambal ideally spicy.
We are a group of friends, as I mentioned, and each of us contributed with our strengths. One of my friends, who is also a shareholder, has a talent for photography and offered to handle all our business photos. Another friend, skilled in social media, took charge of marketing. The remaining two of us focused on cooking and preparing the recipes.
What are some of the biggest challenges that you faced when you opened the restaurant?
Since this was our first business, our first challenge was managing the cost, as we had to rely on our own resources.
The second challenge was finding the right staff. My goal is to build a strong team that provides the best service to our customers.
The third challenge was finding a reliable system to manage orders. I wanted a solution that allowed waiters to take orders from customers and send them directly to the kitchen for preparation.
How did you come across Loyverse, and what made you decide to use it for your business?
I searched on Google for the best restaurant systems to manage orders, and that’s how I discovered Loyverse POS. We have been using it for seven months now, and everything has been going smoothly. I am very grateful to Loyverse for offering a free version for small business owners. As I mentioned, cost management was one of our biggest challenges, and we were pleasantly surprised by how many features Loyverse offers even in its free version.
Another factor that influenced my decision was a recommendation from another business in Malaysia that uses Loyverse. I also liked how user-friendly the system is - our cashier learned to use it without any difficulty.
I appreciate that Loyverse includes features for employee management, such as recording clock-ins and clock-outs, as well as stock management. These features give me confidence to use Loyverse long-term. Initially, I focused on sales management, and I’m very happy with the results.
In terms of reporting and analytics, how valuable is the data you obtain from Loyverse for understanding your restaurant’s performance and making informed decisions?
Yes, of course, it has been very helpful. Since I am responsible for tracking sales and identifying areas for improvement, I find the sales reports in the Back Office extremely useful. I like the variety of reports that Loyverse offers - we can view sales by item, by category, and by payment method.
Do you use a kitchen printer or the Kitchen Display System to send orders to the kitchen?
Currently, we use a printer to send orders to the kitchen. Maybe in the future, we will implement the Kitchen Display System.
Is there any feature or improvement that you would like to see implemented in Loyverse?
I think the Loyverse system is already quite complete.
What are your future plans for Ayam Gepuk Legendz?
Right now, I am focused on making this branch successful. But of course, after one or two years, if our sales continue to grow, I plan to open a second branch—and I will definitely continue using Loyverse in all our branches.

We keep our prices affordable so that everyone can enjoy Ayam Gepuk Legendz. Our goal is to provide great taste and exceptional service.
