Why Loyverse Was the First Choice for This Puerto Vallarta Nightlife Project
Today, we meet with the manager of a newly opened bar in Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone. Inspired by his experience in Las Vegas, the owner brought a unique concept to life: the city’s longest happy hour, and casino-style tokens that can be exchanged for top-quality cocktails all within a fun and vibrant nightlife setting and a unique entertainment experience.
Could you briefly tell us about your business? What does it do, how long has it been operating, and what type of business is it?
We run a bar. The license is currently for a bar-restaurant, but we are in the process of updating it to a nightclub. We only started operations three weeks ago. I was given the project about two and a half months ago: we hired an architect, completely remodeled the space, and gave it a new identity.
We have screens playing music videos, it’s a bar located in Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone, and our goal is to create a fun atmosphere with flair bartending, shows, and other attractions.
You mentioned you just started. How did you decide to implement a POS system, or how did that need come up?
This started even before I came on board. When my boss brought me into the project, he had already chosen Loyverse because several businesses here in Puerto Vallarta use it and highly recommend it. It’s very easy to manage.
My only challenge so far has been learning how to properly manage inventory. I’ve been checking YouTube tutorials, but I will try to schedule a training session with the Loyverse team. Other than that, the system is perfect: easy to use, quick for employees to learn, with features like adding images to items and many tools that make it very user-friendly. My boss originally chose it because of word of mouth, people we knew spoke highly of it, and a colleague of mine also uses it at his bar. By the time I joined the project, the POS was already a done deal.
During the implementation process, how was it for you and the staff who were going to use it?
It was simple for me because I hired staff who had already worked with Loyverse at a friend’s bar. They trained the rest of the team, including me. The sales side is handled by them using their own PINs, while I take care of the administrative part: adding inventory, products, and prices. That part is very easy in Loyverse.
Which Loyverse feature do you find most useful in your daily operations?
Adding new products. It’s extremely easy, just a few clicks, and I can add a cocktail that wasn’t in the system. Sometimes a customer asks for a drink we didn’t have listed but could prepare, and I can quickly create it so it’s available for sale. Within seconds, it syncs and is ready on the POS for the staff to sell. For a newly opened business, that’s essential. I also like how cash management is handled, especially how the system requires setting the starting cash and opening the shift at the start of the sales day.
You mentioned using user PINs and roles. Are you currently using the Employee Management subscription?
That’s right. As the general manager, I have my own access, my boss has another as the owner, and we also have two shift supervisors and a profile for part-time employees. This has been essential for managing access and recording sales. We use different tablets for each staff member.
As the manager, you also have access to the Back Office. Have you noticed any impact of the system on the business in terms of decision-making?
The reports are very clear and easy to interpret. The Back Office is a bit more challenging for me compared to the POS itself, especially for inventory, but that may just be due to a lack of training. That’s why I’ll also be starting the trial period for the Inventory Management subscription, so I can have more detailed data.
Is there any particular feature in Loyverse that you find especially valuable and would recommend to other users?
The way the system’s tools are designed makes it very easy for cashiers and anyone who needs a quick connection between sales and reports that can be accessed from anywhere. Navigating between features and processing sales is simple. Honestly, I don’t see how anyone today could find it difficult to use it; it’s virtually effortless to use.
Finally, what advice would you give to other entrepreneurs or similar businesses that are not yet using a POS system?
They should look for the system that best fits their country and business needs, especially when it comes to staff management and ease of training. Training employees can take a lot of time, and Loyverse makes that process so much easier.
