The store was established in 1707 by William Fortnum and Hugh Mason as a grocery store which sold quality and exotic food and later developed into a department store. Fortnum and Mason interior Fortnum and Mason department store is still open to this day. It is currently owned by Wittington Investments Ltd. Not only is it a department store nowadays, but it also has a chain of stores and restaurants. They sell some luxury goods: different food, tea, wine, gifts, and hampers.
