I am a Food engineer and had been working for 5 years in the industry. At least here in Mexico, this kind of job demands lots of time and it’s not really well paid, so I wanted to start something on my own to be my own boss. My wife and I thought about many different possibilities but didn’t have enough money to do so. We had to get money from the bank and my father helped us with a good amount too.

So in the end we bought a coffee shop that was already running, but had been closed due to personal issues of the last owner. We had to rebuild the entire image of the coffee shop and change the energy of the whole place!

Could you describe to us a bit about your local community?

I have knowledge about Coffee and coffee based drinks, I wanted the business to be more related to prepare specialty coffee, but the local customers don’t really know about good coffee and in the end this item is not the most selling of the menu. I had to adapt to what the people were asking for. The local customers are office employees and are used to buy a complete menu with soup, main dish and dessert.

They have been asking for it, but actually, I don’t have enough space to do so. So I keep the menu I developed in the beginning and had added many different items that I am capable to make and that is affordable.

How did you find Loyverse POS and why would you recommend Loyverse POS to other retailers like you?

My brother has had used many different POS for retail (TPV) in many business he had run in the past, and promised me to gift me one he had’t been using, but he never did. I needed to have a control over the sales, because we started doing it on paper. But sometimes we had no time to keep writing and making charts on the computer, so I started looking for many apps that could help us for free, because we didn’t have experience on this kind of business and we ran out of money.

Then luckily, after trying many apps that were not very friendly, I found Loyverse POS (Loyverse TPV) and fell in love immediately. It’s very easy to use, to upload new Items, and all the features the you can find in the back office are so useful that it saves you time, effort and money.

What is the goal for your business and what are your plans to achieve this goal?

Right now my wife and I are going thru a very difficult times, due to personal problems, but actually we want to make this business bigger and we will try to make it some kind of franchise. It will take time and lots of effort, but we have to try.

Do you have any advice for retailers such as yourself? -E.g. Something that you wish you had known earlier.

As I said before, my wife and I had no knowledge of how to run this business in the beginning. We has to make mistakes to learn. I think that If you don’t know about how to do something, try to talk to someone who is already doing it and learn as much as you can before starting, but if you can’t, Just do it. In the end, there will always be mistakes you can learn from.
