The Change That Saved Mixer Pub: From Costly Losses to Confident Business Management with Loyverse.

Could you tell us a little about your business? What type of business do you run?

Hello, my name is Roberto Montenegro. We opened our business seven months ago, on December 5, and we've been using Loyverse for the past five months. Our business is called Mixer Pub. We originally envisioned operating on two levels. We rented two spaces: one on the ground floor and another on the second floor. The plan was to have a family-style restaurant downstairs and a sports bar upstairs. About three months ago, we decided to focus only on the upstairs sports bar, and that's the concept that's working well for us today.

Was there a specific reason why you decided to implement Loyverse?

This is my first time managing and owning this type of business. I've been involved in the nightclub industry for many years, but this is the first time I've been responsible for running a venue myself. The main reason we implemented Loyverse was that we were losing money due to misplaced paper order tickets. They would often go missing, and the waiters would tell me, "I gave it to you," or "I already paid you."

At that time, we used three-part paper order tickets: one copy went to the bar, another to the cashier, and the third stayed with the waiter to serve the customer. At the end of every shift, I had to compare the records from the cashier, the bar, and the waiter. Very often, I would find the ticket at the cashier, but not at the bar, or the waiter no longer had it. That was the main reason we decided to use Loyverse: to prevent losing order tickets and, of course, losing money.

How did you manage orders before Loyverse?

Everything was done on paper, which made it very easy for tickets to get lost. Anyone could simply throw one away, and there would be no record of it. With Loyverse, only the cashier or the owner can close tickets, which gives us much better control.

I had actually seen Loyverse being used at other places where I worked. A friend of mine, who had worked as a manager for many years, recommended it to me. There are still many features we haven't fully explored, but so far it has been an extremely useful tool for our business.

What has been the biggest change since you started using Loyverse?

The biggest change is that we no longer lose money. That is, without a doubt, the most important improvement. The second is that we now have much better control over our operations. And third, even if a paper ticket is lost, I still have a complete record in the system.

Which Loyverse feature do you use the most in your daily operations, besides recording sales?

One of my favorite features is that only the cashier, manager, or owner can close tickets. I also really like the shift report at the end of each day. It clearly shows the amount of cash, card payments, and total sales. That saves me a lot of time because, before, everything had to be written down in a notebook: what each waiter sold, what was prepared at the bar, and then we had to compare every single paper ticket to make sure everything matched. Now, all of that work is done automatically.

Since you have employees, do you use Loyverse subscriptions?

Yes. I have one waitress and one bartender. Our venue is fairly small, so I haven't needed to hire more staff yet. If the business continues to grow, I'll probably need to purchase additional subscriptions. Honestly, it doesn't feel like an expense. Considering how much time it saves and how many problems it prevents, I think the price is very reasonable.

How was the implementation process? Was there anything difficult to learn?

My wife is the manager of the business, and she had already worked with the system before, so having someone with experience made the process much easier. Of course, there were still things I needed to learn because using the system as a waiter or bartender is very different from using it as the owner.

I found many YouTube tutorials and helpful articles in the Help Center, and that's how I learned to use the system. Honestly, it wasn't difficult at all. I don't think I know every feature yet, but everything I need is very practical and easy to use. We also trained our staff step by step, showing them how to create orders, split bills, and cancel orders when necessary. If you ever have questions, there is plenty of information available on the Loyverse website.

Another feature I really like is that every order shows the table number and the name of the employee who created it. It allows me to find the information I need immediately.

Would you recommend the Employee Management subscription to other Loyverse users?

Absolutely. Even if the free trial had only lasted two or three days, I still would have subscribed because it's truly worth it. Before choosing Loyverse, I researched several other POS systems. After comparing them, I concluded that Loyverse was the best option for my business. It makes my work much easier.

What advice would you give to entrepreneurs who are still managing sales manually?

I would tell them that it's worth investing a little in the software. The cost is very low compared to the time and effort required to write paper tickets and reconcile everything manually at the end of the day. Paper records get lost, and when that happens, money gets lost too. With Loyverse, everything is much better organized. When you're starting a business, time is one of your most valuable resources, and Loyverse saves a lot of it.

Have you noticed improvements in areas such as inventory control, sales, or customer service after implementing Loyverse?

Definitely, taking orders is much faster because everything is entered directly into the system. We use a tablet, so entering orders is quick, and the kitchen or bar receives them immediately. Collecting payments is also easier because customers can clearly see every item on their bill. Inventory control has also improved, as we can now track exactly how many products we have and how many have been sold. Overall, our operations have become much more efficient. The shift management is another major improvement. We no longer spend an hour reconciling sales because the system generates everything automatically at the end of the shift.

Can you share a recent example of a decision you made using information from the Back Office?

One feature I really appreciate is being able to manage products even when I'm away from the business. This week, for example, I wanted to launch a promotion that wasn't yet available in the system. Using my phone, I added the discount, created the product, uploaded a photo, and published it remotely. The system updated immediately, and the promotion was available the very same day. That was a great advantage for me.

Finally, would you like to share any advice for entrepreneurs just getting started?

I would encourage them to start using Loyverse and invest in the subscription, as it truly makes running a business much easier. It gives you much better control over every part of your operation. I highly recommend the software. It works very well, saves a lot of time, and helps you manage your business more efficiently. It gives you better control over inventory, the bar, who entered each order, and who served it. For me, it's definitely worth using Loyverse, and it's even more worthwhile to subscribe to its paid features.
