Composite Items

I have created an item for sale that has composite items that are not available for sale. However I am having some trouble with this. I have looked on here for answers and it seems that I do not understand what 'composite items' even are!! As someone who has been in pos industries, mostly hospitality, I can't even fathom what this is even about if it is not what I thought it was!!

 

Anyway, here is my problem:

We sell an item called 'Meze'

A Meze has 20 items as part of it. 

I thought composite item was that the 20 items form 1 item, and that this can be used in an actual useful way! Apparently not. What is it for?

I need the customers receipt to say Meze, I want the Kitchen order print to list the 20 items. Simple!

No other version of this is acceptable. We are NOT going to click on 20 items each time a customer orders Meze. Not an option.

We are NOT going to click 20 items as a modifier. Not an Option.

I started to wonder if composite item was about stock tracking, but that can't be right, as tracking inventory on composite items is an option. Must have some other function that eludes me, and we do not do track inventory this way anyway, and over 30 years in this industry and NO business I have ever worked for, or run myself did this. No small independent for sure, unless you're an idiot and good luck with bankruptcy or working for nothing!

 

So again what is it for?? And how do I achieve what I need here? Which I think is VERY important function and seriously shocked that this isn't what I thought it was.

Maybe it's my age, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
