Deleting Variants

Is there a way to delete variants?  I have accidentally created an extra variant I don't want but can't see how to delete it.

But in this way you cannot delete the last variant.
If you want to have items without variant you have to delete all items, and create it again.

How can we delete the last one other than deleting the item and recreate it ?

That is absolutely ridiculous you should be able to delete the variants or even better be able to move them see my question in problems
