Epson TM-P20II Bluetooth

Hello my hardware Ipad Pro M4 / printer Epson TM-P20II Bluetooth
I have successfully connected the printer, which means the app Loyverse has found the printer,
but I cannot print any receipts (printer error, make sure the printer is connected)
on the other hand I can print with the Epson printer app, so the connection Ipad to the printer is fine
thanks for feedback

Hello. Thank you for your post.

We support Epson TM-T20II via Ethernet connection, but we don't have an option to connect with Epson TM-T20II via Bluetooth.

Best regards,

I wanted to share my experience in case it helps others who are having similar problems.

Setup

  • Printer: Epson TM‑P20II (Bluetooth‑only model)
  • POS: Loyverse
  • New device: Samsung S20 (Android 12/13)
  • Old device: Android 9/10 phone

The Problem

On the newer Android device:

  • The printer pairs via Bluetooth without issues.
  • It works perfectly in Epson TM Utility.
  • However, it does not print from Loyverse.

There are no clear error messages. The connection appears fine, but the print job does not execute.

The Test

I installed Loyverse on an older Android phone (Android 9/10), paired the same printer, and tested again.

Result:
✅ Printing works perfectly on the older device.

Conclusion

This confirms that:

  • The printer hardware is not faulty.
  • Loyverse itself is not fundamentally broken.
  • The Bluetooth connection is working.

The issue seems related to changes introduced in newer Android versions (Android 12+), particularly around:

  • Bluetooth permission handling
  • Changes in the Bluetooth stack
  • Stricter background communication rules
  • Differences in classic Bluetooth SPP behavior

Since the TM‑P20II (Bluetooth‑only model) relies on classic Bluetooth SPP for ESC/POS communication, it appears that newer Android versions may cause compatibility issues in some cases.

Workaround

Using an older Android device (Android 9/10) completely resolves the issue. Printing works normally and reliably.
