Hi, I am setting up an ordering system for my small restaurant. I am in the configuration and test stage. I was using my apple ipad when testing the POS sales. And then I added my Samsung phone as the KDS and it worked. But when I try adding the ipad as KDS and use my phone to find it, it doesn't find the ipad, I've tried adding thr ip and still does not find it. I removed the ipad as a pos device and still nothing.

Are we able to mix OS and Android devices like this? Any idea why ipad as POS and Samsung as KDS works but won't the other way around?

Hello.
You can use an Android device as POS and an iPad as KDS and vice versa. In your case (Samsung phone as POS and iPad as KDS), they should work.
The most common reason for trouble - is if devices are not connected to the same WiFi router.
You have to check the WiFi connection of your devices. They should connect to the same WiFi network and the same WiFi router.
If they are connected - the other possible reason - is when the WiFi router is overloaded with connections with many devices. It usually happens in the restaurant when a WiFi router gives WiFi to many visitors. This case is detailed and described here: Troubleshooting When Working with KDS

Hi Andy,

I wasn't able to get the ios devices to work with KDS, so I found another Android. However, the kitchen far away from the bar and I have an extender in between. Is there any way to get KDS working with an extender? They are the same network, but just different router? Surely there is some work around?
