Do old pots work as decor, or do they just collect dust?

I was at a friend's place recently and noticed a couple of old clay and wooden pots sitting on a shelf. No plants, no flowers, nothing in them at all. Somehow they still looked better than most of the decorative objects you see in stores.

That sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole, and I ended up browsing collections of vintage pots and vessels. What I like about them is that they're not trying too hard to be decorative. Most of them were originally made for everyday use and just happen to have developed character over time.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have one old piece with some wear and history than another brand-new decorative item straight off a production line.

Do you use vintage pots purely as display pieces, or do you actually find practical uses for them around the house?
