This is a normal problem and there is nothing wrong with the file itself.

What happens is that your excel is not being able to display all the values in a nice table like you were expecting.

There is different ways to solve this issue but one of them is the following:

  1. Open Blank Workbook.
  2. Go to DATA tab.
  3. Click button From Text in the General External Data section.
  4. Select your CSV file.
  5. Follow the Text Import Wizard. (in step 2, select "comma" as delimiter of your text)

There is many videos in youtube that can be helpful.

Another option is to Open your file with a different program such as Google Sheets.

In the items name in the CSV file, the items are written and saved in Arabic fonts. Upon importing the CSV file, all Arabic letters are transferred to "?" mark. I tried modifying the imported items by directly writing the item name in Arabic font, and it excepts. Nevertheless, the list of items is too large to do modifications one by one. Pls support to fix this import problem

You need to open excel program first, then click Data, from Text. A window will open to select your CSV file. After you select it, another window called Text Import Wizard will open. Follow the Three Steps that apear. The first step Choose the File Type that best describes your data (select Delimited). You may start import at row 2 as row 1 is too large and contains names of each coloum which you may not need. File Origin select 65001 unicode (UTF-8). Then go to next step Delimiters, select Comma only. Then next and finish.

When uploading a CSV, I only get a message with the number of titles that are already on the product list. With thousands of different products (books) it takes a lot of time to find out which titles are double.

During import at the back office, there is a report of errors and warning signs. They indicate which sell, row or column has a problem and the type of problem.

So, it is easy to change mistakes in the CVS file.

Hi.

When I export the item list in Excel, I just notice that if the barcode starts with 0(zero), the first digit 0(Zero) is removed in Excel.

For instance, if a bardcode is "0234567", if appears as "23456" in exported Excel. If I edit other information beside a barcode, the barcode is replaced with the number without 0(zero).

Does anyone know how to download a barcode without missing 0(zero) or anyway not to edit the bardcode if I import Excel file?

Thanks

Every digital table system inculude excel, doesn't recognize the '0' as the biginning number. I mean if you try to type '0333' then It will show only '333'

So you can try to make barcode as the text. but what I recommand you is "try not to start barcode with 0." It is the most simple way.

If you import the CSV file into excel and set the barcode column to text it will display the 0.  make sure you save the file as csv if you want to import it into the POS. otherwise it will drop the zero

Hi,

Do you have any info about the import template. I need to know which each of the columns means so I know what info to input where and which fields I can leave blank etc

Hello.

When you have a list of sample items, you can export them. Click on the ‘Export’ button.

Open your CSV file (the best way is to open it from Google Sheets, but you can also use other tools). You will see the sheet with your sample items. You can use it to add other items you intend to import. Follow the pattern of your sample items when filling in the fields.

More details read official help.

Hello Garry,

Could you give us an example of what happens to the barcodes and how they change when you import them back to Loyverse?

Hello.

The ‘Handle’ field is required for items with variants and it should be the same for all variants of the same item.

The system will give mistake if you put the same handle for different items. To avoid this just delete all handles from the import file.

Hello! Have you made any changes to the handle of the items in the file? Please send the file you are trying to import to help@loyverse.com. And explain the steps you took. For example, are you exporting, making changes to a file and importing a file, or are you trying to import new items?

Thank you for sending file. It looks like you already have items with the same SKU as you use in the file. So those items have already handle in back office. It is the reason, why you receive such error message. We recommend you to use new SKU in the import file.

Hello!

You can try to open the file in google sheets if you have opened them from Excel when this questions marks appeared.
This most probably happened because sometimes excel or whichever program you are using to open the CSV file is not able to recognize the language. In such cases, I can suggest that you try to follow this guide provided about opening in excel and then you can try opening the file in Google Sheet instead.

Excel:https://help.loyverse.com/help/export-excels

After puting my items in the csv template, fill out the VAT value as applicable and importing the file without errors it turns out that the applicable VAT knob is not selected under the items, all imported items have no VAT selected at all.

Is this an import error?

Hello!

May I ask how did you fill out the VAT value as application in your import file?

As follows:

Hello!

In these kinds of cases, may I ask that you try to follow this guide provided on how to open the csv file in google sheet please? And in this guide, please note to remove the "Convert Text to numbers, dates, and formulas". This should allow you to display the texts of the csv file as is without the program automatically changing it for you:

Hello Ibrahim!

In such case, I suggest trying to use google sheets instead of Microsoft Excel.

Please export a new file from your item's list and open it using Google sheets https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/?tgif=d

Also, for more detailed tutorial, please refer to this help article: https://help.loyverse.com/help/how-open-csv-file-google-sheets

Just in case you don't have google account for google sheets, please adjust the your Microsoft Excel's settings and open the file in CSV format. You can refer to this help article on how to set it up: https://help.loyverse.com/help/export-excels

Unfortunately, in Loyverse we do not have a feature to specify the unit of the items. It is up to you how you will interpret the units of the item's weight. But I can suggest you put a note beside the item's name.

Then, kindly enable the Sold By Weight feature. With this feature, you are able to sell your items in weight i.e. selling them in 0.500 or 1.500, etc.

For more information about how this feature works, please see this guide provided: https://help.loyverse.com/help/how-sell-items-weight

Hello Zwezwe~

Unfortunaly, it is also not possible. The images needs to be added manually. But, I will include this with our feature request 😉

When I import the CSV file to create products in the system (first time), it can be processed successfully.

However, when I update the selling price and upload the CSV file second time, import errors occurred (as below image).

The "handle" just simple named as U00001, U00002, U00003, U00004 and U00005

How can I resolve this problem?

Hello OPRO!

Did you made sure the the file was saved as CSV?

To clarify, you only change the pricing part in the file, correct? If yes, can you also try using other browser and check if it will work?

Hi Hanna,

Yes, the file was saved as CSV. I tried to use the original CSV file (first time import CSV file). Same problem is occurred.

I tested import file with Edge and Chrome. Same result.

I changed the prices of all my items in my exported csv file.
When I import it back to Loyverse I get this error:

Different items cannot have the same handles. (for many items).

However I did not make any changes to the Handles. And I checked all the items and there are no duplicates. Each handle is different. I don't use variables.

But now I cannot import the file with my updated price list because of this error.

Will I be able to import the items if I just delete all the handles in my file before importing?
Will that result in that the new file won't make any changes to the handles? Or will that make all the handles disappear?

I am receiving an error when uploading my CSV file to register products, attached is the message that says something like: "File error / try repeating the action later."

What should I do, try again later, or is there something wrong with my file? I checked it carefully myself.

Thank you.

Have you tried other browsers or can you confirm if you are using Loyverse's template?
