From Personal Healing to Retail Success: How CBD Infusions Grew with Loyverse
In 2019, the founder of CBD Infusions in the United Kingdom turned a deeply personal journey into a thriving health-focused business. Inspired by the search for natural pain relief solutions for a family member, the company was built on a strong belief in the benefits of alternative health products. Despite launching just as the COVID-19 pandemic began, the business adapted quickly and found new ways to reach customers. Today, CBD Infusions continues to grow, supported by reliable suppliers and the simplicity of Loyverse POS.
What type of business do you have and how did you start your business?
We sell CBD products and mushroom supplements. The business is called CBD Infusions, and we are located in the United Kingdom. We started in 2019, when we were looking for alternative health supplements. My mom had cancer, and we were searching for something that could help relieve her pain. I strongly believe that natural products can make a difference in health.
Before starting this business, I owned a hydroponic business. However, it began to decline due to COVID-19, and I decided to make a change. Exploring health supplements felt more meaningful and interesting than continuing in hydroponics.
What were some of the challenges that you faced when you initially started and how did you overcome them?
The main challenge was COVID-19. As soon as we secured the shop and were ready to open, the pandemic struck, and we were forced to close. Since we couldn’t sell in-store, we quickly shifted online. We launched our website, began taking orders, and personally delivered products to customers in our local area. We also started shipping orders by mail.
Another challenge was sourcing high-quality products. Fortunately, we found reliable suppliers early on and have continued working with them ever since.
Lastly, the constantly changing legislation around CBD products has been complicated to navigate, but so far, we have managed to adapt and stay compliant.
When did you first come across the Loyverse POS app and what made you decide to use it in your business?
We previously used another POS system, but we experienced many issues and received poor support. While searching on Google, Loyverse appeared in the results. I downloaded it to test it and found it very easy to use.
After this initial trial, I decided to replace our previous POS system and fully implement Loyverse in the business. We have now been using it for a year.
What are some of the Loyverse features that you have found most useful for your business?
I like that it is very user-friendly. The built-in loyalty program has been especially helpful, as we are gaining more and more customers. We no longer need to use third-party software for loyalty rewards.
Initially, we used physical stamp cards. Each time customers visited the shop, we would stamp their card. Now, with the built-in loyalty program in Loyverse, the process is much smoother. Customers can see their points balance printed on their receipts, and they really appreciate being able to redeem their points at any time.
Loyverse is easy to use and simple to set up. Unlike our previous system, which was complicated just to add a product, Loyverse only requires entering a name, price, barcode, and uploading a picture.
I also like that it integrates seamlessly with Teya for card payments.
Do you track inventory of your products using Loyverse?
At the moment, we are not using the inventory tracking feature in Loyverse. We manage the stock available on our website and keep it updated as we regularly receive items from our main suppliers. The inventory in our physical store is currently monitored manually.
Have the Loyverse reports been useful for you to follow trends and identify top-selling items?
Yes, absolutely. I like how easy the reports are to understand. There’s no need to navigate through multiple screens. You can simply click, download, and review the information quickly.
Are you using any of the paid services that Loyverse offers?
Yes, we use the Unlimited Sales History subscription.
What features do you think need to be added or improved in Loyverse in order to help you with your daily operations?
I would like the ability to create more than six custom pages on the sales screen. It would also be helpful to have an additional level of nested categories. Currently, you can assign items to categories, but having a third level of categorization would be useful.
Other than that, we love everything about the system. We are planning to open another business, and we will definitely use Loyverse there as well.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs who will read this article?
If you are looking for a till system, I would definitely recommend Loyverse POS. It is easy to set up, affordable, and includes a powerful loyalty program that your customers will love.
